Both Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi have been highlighted in news since 2018 due to the ongoing controversy. Now the issue of sexual harassment between the two seems to be turning into a political affair. Both seem to be close to two different political parties in Pakistan.
The feud between Meesha Shafi and Ali Zafar started in April 2018. The ‘MeToo’ campaign against sexual harassment was in full swing all over the world when Meesha accused Ali of sexual harassment.
Soon after the accusation, Meesha Shafi and her fans launched a campaign against Ali Zafar on social media. Her fans also expressed sympathy and solidarity with her.
The case was later taken to court. After reviewing the evidence and statements of witnesses, the verdict was pronounced in favor of Ali Zafar. He then filed a defamation suit against Mesha Shafi and her supporters who had defamed him on social media.
Ali Zafar denied the allegations against him on social media claiming they were baseless and damaged his name and career.
He had filed a defamation suit against Meesha Shafi and her supporters in the FIA’s Cybercrime Wing on charges of misconduct on social media.
This month, FIA blamed Meesha Shafi and eight others for running a character assassination campaign on social media against Ali Zafar. Mesha Shafi has been given the next date of hearing on January 18, 2021
