‘Mein Ne Tumhari Gagar’ Writer Shabi Farooqi Passed Away

WEB DESK: Famous poet and writer Shabi Farooqi passed away in New York. His unique writing style earned him fame, he composed many famous songs and poetry.

One of his most famous songs was ‘Mein Ne Tumhari Gagar’ sung by Alamgir in 1980. Recently, this song was resung by Umair Jaswal for Velo Sound Station and is currently trending in the music charts.

Shabi Farooqi not only wrote songs but some of his jingles are also still fresh in minds after so many years. One of his famous jingle was ‘Ai Khuda Mere Abu Salamat Rahaien’ featured in an insurance television commercial (TVC).

Similarly, another jingle, “Meri Muthi Mein Bund Hai Kya? Buttado Na” was written by him for the brand Naz Pan Masala. It gained extreme popularity and till today is fondly remembered when ever naz pan masala comes to ones mind.

He was also part of Radio Pakistan and many television programs featured his songs.

He also wrote many patriotic songs which were sung by prominent singers including Ahmed Rashdi, Mohammad Ifrahim and Mohammad Ali Shehki and gained popularity.

Shabi Farooqi was known to be a humble and kind-hearted individual and revered by his friends and family. His writings were not aimed at gaining fame or money. Instead, he wrote purely for the love of poetry and prose.
