Actor, model and cosmetologist Nadia Hussain has blasted the federal government for imposing a strict ban on imported items including cosmetic products.
Nadia Hussain was of the view that the ban on imported products including cosmetics will destroy many businesses in Pakistan.
She wrote on Twitter, “Oh and what about businesses seriously affected by import ban hence businesses itself are wondering about their own survival let alone survival of their employees!!???”
Hussain was replying to Najam Ali, who tweeted, “Govt should advise the private sector to increase the salaries of certain group of employees for at least 6 months. Or alternatively give them special allowance for petrol and electricity. This can be reviewed again if inflation persists.”

The user said, “Survival comes from the Food 80 % of the population doesn’t use the products which the elite class use please go see the statistics otherwise we are inches away from becoming another Sri Lanka.”
To this, Hussain said, “Yes true survival comes from food but food comes from money and money comes from work and work comes from business and in my line of business so far we’re dependant on imported products! So OK you’re telling me that it’s OK if my business has to shut and my employees are jobless?”

The debate has not ended yet as ‘MK’ said, “No, I did not explain or told you like this I just put my point that your business can run also by other products which are made in Pak when you are at the stage that your country is going to Default you have to take drastic decisions.”
Hussain said, “I’m in the beauty business so no I cannot use any products made in Pakistan because production of such quality products doesn’t exist in Pakistan!!!! So now give me a way out!”
The user wrote, “The country doesn’t have dollars to get the products used by the elite class.”
She said, “So yes you are directly telling me that my business, my investment and my staff is totally irrelevant and I should shut shop leading to unemployment of my staff!”
She added, “My main priority right now is survival of my employees! The chain is very tight right now!”

She added, “There’s no rocket science to this!!!! The ban will increase smuggling, hence increase the price of those products and again the business and consumer will suffer!!!!! It’s not out of the box!!!! It’s still digging into the government’s $ reserves!!! But this time all illegally!”
