The Coke Studio Season 14’s ‘Tu Jhoom’ song was hit by a controversy over plagiarism accusations that was credited to Adnan Dhool (writer), Xulfi (narrative, composer, arranger and producer) and Abdullah Siddiqui (co-producer).
After listening to ‘Tu Jhoom’, a singer from Umarkot, Nirmala Maghani accused Xulfi of lifting the melody of the song from a sample she had sent to him back in June 2021 to eye a slot as featuring artist in Coke Studio Season 14.

Maghani claimed that Xulfi did not reply to her message. The singer claimed that one of the melodies has been used in Tu Jhoom which she had sent to Xulfi.
Xulfi denies accusations
Xulfi issued a written statement to the media, saying, “I produce and collaborate in the spirit of inclusivity and my work with Coke Studio holds the same philosophy.”
“I am grateful and humbled to receive many talented artists’ requests for collaboration from all over Pakistan, as have many producers before me. However, I can’t say my work for CS borrowed from such shared samples I received,” said the Coke Studio producer.
“I do hope to have the fortune of listening to Nirmala Manghani’s songs in person and to possibly come together for collaboration ahead: our young brilliant artists across Pakistan are our future,” he added.
The Season 14 of the Coke Studio had launched on January 14 with its latest track, ‘Tu Jhoom’ featuring two of the top folk and Sufi singers, Naseebo Lal and Abida Parveen. The song has gone viral after hours of its release and so far garnered over 7.7 million views on YouTube.
