Oscars 2021 Will Be Held “In-Person”
Oscar 2021 ceremony will be held in front of a live audience on April 25
WEB DESK: Hollywood’s biggest night is on track to get back to normal in 2021.According to sources, the film-awards ceremony will not be a virtual experience despite the ongoing pandemic. The 2021 Oscars will be held in-person.
The Academy had previously delayed ABC Oscars ceremony by two months to April 25, 2021, with the hope that the extended time would allow more films to be seen and to qualify for the deadline.
The Oscars are scheduled to be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, which seats 3,400 people. According to Variety, Academy officials are in the process of figuring out details involving seating and audience capacity.
By holding the Oscars later in spring, organizers are now focusing to make sure that the event continues as it always has, live. Since the March lockdowns, the COVID-19 pandemic has crippled the film industry, with movie theaters closed and production halted. It’s not clear how many of the nominees will be able to or will agree to attend the event in-person.
The Pakistan Academy Selection Committee has selected Sarmad Khoosat’s film Zindagi Tamasha as Pakistan’s official entry to the 93rd Academy Awards. However, the film’s release was stalled in Pakistan due to protests by a religious political party in Pakistan.
Oscar nominations are due to be announced on 15 March 2021. According to the Academy’s new calender, preliminary voting will take place from 1 to 5 February.
The Oscars shortlist will then be announced on 9 February and nominations voting will take place from 5 to 10 March. After the nominations are announced, guests will be set to gather for the annual Oscar Nominees Luncheon on 15 April, with the final voting happening from 15 to 20 April.
