Pakistani Singer Made it to Barack Obama’s Summer Playlist
The song Mohabbat belongs to Arooj Aftab's third album which is dedicated to her younger brother who died earlier this year
A token of appreciation for Pakistan as a singer Arooj Aftab has been hand-picked by former US president Barack Obama in his summer playlist.
Arooj’s Sufi-infused jazz sounds have previously caught so many ears but now the song Mohabbat from her third album has become the best pick for the summer season.
Apart from Pakistani singer, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Bob Dylan, and Rolling Stones also made it to Obama’s list of 38 songs.

Following this, the 36-year-old Pakistani singer shared the picture of Barack Obama and thanked him for considering her piece of composition in his summer playlist.
“Well this has been wonderful to wake up to! Thank you”, she wrote.

Arooj Aftab was born in Lahore and she moved to the United States (US) in 2005. She independently released her first album titled Bird Under Water in 2015 and got acclamation.
The song Mohabbat belongs to her third album which is dedicated to her younger brother who died earlier this year.
Many listeners claimed that the song is a true reflection of Arooj’s slow-burn exploration of the pain of separation from her brother.
