Rabia Anum Obaid faces criticism after Nida Yasir’s show controversy
Rabia Anum Obaid walked out of Nida Yasir's show for taking a stand for the victims of domestic violence after finding Mohsin Abbas Haider among the guests.
Alongside getting praise from people, the TV show Rabia Anum Obaid faced criticism for walking off the set of Nida Yasir’s show when she learned that Mohsin Abbas Haider, an actor who has been accused of beating up his ex-wife, was also invited.
Rabia Anum Obaid walked out of Nida Yasir’s show on Tuesday for taking a stand for the victims of domestic violence after finding Mohsin Abbas Haider among the other guests including Fiza Ali on the show.
She apologised to Yasir and went on to explain her reasoning for walking out. “I want to apologise beforehand to you, Nida, for what I am about to say.”
She added, “You know I love you. This team and this channel are very dear to me. We are talking about childhood mistakes right now but there are some mistakes that stay with you your whole life. I don’t want to make such mistakes here today.” Without taking names, Anum hinted about Haider’s domestic abuse case filed by his former wife, Fatima Sohail.
She elaborated, “There’s an issue close to me, for which I have taken a very strong stance. When I came to your show today, I knew Fiza will be here but I wasn’t informed of any other guests. I have taken a stand against domestic abuse. And I think if my smallest effort can save my daughter, my friend tomorrow, then I have to comply.”
She further shared, “For this reason, I don’t want to be a part of this show.” Addressing Yasir, Anum added, “I know you are an employee of the channel and I know you are very responsible. But if I sat through this show today, I won’t be able to face my friends, my colleagues, or any victim tomorrow. I hope you can forgive me.”

Mathira wrote on Instagram, “This is so bad people should be given a chance to change and if she had a problem she should not at least humiliate someone so publicly.. there are many times I felt uncomfortable so I left the show with apology but dint humiliate someone this bad! Standing and raising your voice against domestic violence Is good but she should have left gracefully it’s been years and she had no right to humiliate Mohsin I feel really bad for him. Don’t try to be a hero by stepping on someone.”
Mishi Khan blamed Obaid for making a good use of the situation for a stunt. She wrote on Twitter, “Rabia Anum could have excused herself to go on air before the show as she must be in makeup room & had enough time to boycott rather go on air and do this stunt. Probably her manager had this great idea to make good use of the situation for a stunt.”

Haider was accused of physically abusing his wife, Sohail, in 2019. The actor had since categorically denied all allegations of violence levelled against him. The actor said that his wife’s allegations are all a part of a conspiracy against him being carried out by his “enemies” in the showbiz industry, reported Express Tribune.
“Every woman who accuses a man with tears in her eyes can’t be telling the truth,” he added. Haider further said that he has been raised by a family that has taught him how to respect women. He said that a fake Facebook reply by his name is being shared on social media to his wife’s assault allegations post. “The passwords to all of my social media accounts are with her [Sohail], not with me.”
When asked about his wife’s claims that he was having an extramarital affair, the actor said: “There is no truth into this whatsoever.”
