Oscar-winning Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy Won another honor in Hollywood.
Hollywood production company Locus Films on Friday announced three new action films of the popular series ‘Star Wars’, one of which will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy.
Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has also become the first non-white filmmaker to receive the honor of directing the Star Wars series. According to the American company ‘Lucas Film’, 3 new films of the Star Wars series will be made, of which 2 films will be directed by Dave Filoni and James Mangold, while the third film will be directed by Sharmelin Obaid Chinoy.

The film will see the return of actress Daisy Ridley as Rey, who was last seen in 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. The script of the movie will be written by Steven Knight, who wrote famous series like ‘Peaky Blinders’ and ‘Spenser’.
Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy informed the fans about this good news through an Instagram post. He wrote that “The news has arrived! I’m excited to direct the next Star Wars film and bring Daisy Ridley back to the galaxy.”
It should be remembered that Sharmeen Obaid has won 2 Oscar awards for short documentaries, she received an Emmy Award along with an Oscar for ‘Saving Face’ in 2011 and ‘A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness’ in 2015.
Pakistani director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy recently directed two episodes of the Disney series ‘Miss Marvel’.
