Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor has recorded a protest over the ongoing hijab row in Karnataka as she questioned the dual standard in giving freedom to choose to the citizens.
She reacted to the hijab row by posting on Instagram, questioning why a hijab cannot be a choice if a turban can.
Her reaction came after the Karnataka government imposed a ban on the hijab in schools and colleges that sparked protests across the state. Sonam Kapoor is among a large number of celebrities who gave their reactions on social media over the hijab row.
The original post read, “With the latest news of the students’ addresses being leaked we really need to ask ourselves if it has something to do with religious oppression or are we singling out a particular religion?”

I still stand by that but at the same time, I have nothing but deep contempt for these mobs of hooligans who are trying to intimidate a small group of girls and that too unsuccessfully. In a recent tweet, he said, “Secular people like me have the right to oppose burqa n hijab (we have always done that) but not those who themselves have saffron shawls on their shoulders. Aren’t they of the same ideology that caused violence against Hindu girls in Manglore for having coffee in a restaurant.”
