‘Harassment Charges Against Ali Zafar Began With a Threat’

With the fake news stirred in the air by Daily Mail in regards to Meesha and Ali Zafar’s brawl, the case took a sudden shift with social activist Mahwash Ajaz’s utterance about the case.

“This time I’m gonna reserve comments & let the facts do the talking”, the social media activist claimed on Twitter.

Mahwash shared some inside details behind the harassment case on Ali Zafar and maintained that Meesha was a good friend of the Allay singer but when Ali was approached by Pepsi to join them as part of jury for a show, Meesha threatened him to stay aside.

Upon refusal to be blackmailed, the male singer was accused of harassing Boom Boom singer.

The allegations by Meesha were claimed ‘false’ by the singer’s manager Syed Farhan Ali.

Several ‘fake’ accounts were created, merely weeks in advance of Meesha Shafi’s tweet to build a narrative against Ali Zafar painting him as a harasser, a ‘pervert’, she added.

A fake account posted around 1000s of tweets against the accused singer and continued to spread misinformation regarding the star.

As Ali started his promotions for Teefa in Trouble, he was harassed with slogans and posters on streets, Mahwash elucidated the pain of the singer.

Daily Times, Mangobaaz, Catacut, and Dawn were the supporters of Meesha in pursuing the vilification case.

“Some individuals who lecture about mental health and social justice simply just bandwagonned out of friends’ circles being partisan to one person or for petty point-scoring”, she added.

Defamation cases are to be wrapped up in 90 days as per the law, however, the one filed by Ali against Meesha in 2018 still needs to be sorted.

Whereas the witnesses for the jamming session, mentioned by Meesha, refuted harassment allegations but Shafi claimed that those who testified against her were on the other side.

However, Ustad Baqir Abbas, a noted musician, maintained that he was deeply hurt by Meesha’s accusations and that’s why he was standing with the truth.

Musician and producer Asad also backed Ali and claimed that allegations against the star were false.

Additionally, Sara Razee, who is a childhood friend of Meesha and Ali Zafar’s wife Ayesha Fazli, testified about the ‘party’ allegation.

Most of the social media accounts that were vocal against Ali were dismissed as ‘paid bloggers’ and ‘friends’.

Interestingly, Meesha appeared just once to record her ‘chief’ examination almost two years after the case was filed.

While mentioning the grief of Allay singer, Mahwash claimed that the star was pushed out of Velo, Coke studio, Pepsi, PSL, and his movie lost sponsors too.

Although, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) ruled against Meesha, she still secured lucrative contracts.

Since 2018, the case filed by Ali Zafar against Meesha has been a hot potato for media in Pakistan and the tweets posted by Mahwash Ajaz bought the case into spare limelight.
