Bunnies Dig Hole For Actor Ahsan Khan

The act of using bunnies as an entertainment item is a violation of Article 9 of Animal Cruelty Act 1890

Time Out With Ahsan Khan on Express Entertainment channel may face punitive action as a law firm lodged a complaint with Pakistan Electronic Media Authority (PEMRA) Council of Complaint against the use of ‘Rabbit’ as a prop during the show.

The law firm maintained that the act of using bunnies as an entertainment item is a violation of Article 9 of Animal Cruelty Act 1890.

“This is incredibly distressing for the poor animals, not to mention we do not know if these animals were bought from a breeder, how they are kept, who is responsible for them. Using animals for entertainment is unethical and needs to stop”, the firm maintained.

Inhumane behavior with animals is a matter of frequent occurrence in Pakistan as Kavaan, termed as the loneliest elephant in the world, was retired to Cambodia due to his ailing condition. Now, yet again, the poor treatment with rabbits on a show has stirred a new debate on social media.

The show has a segment ‘cry and yell’ where the host Ahsan Khan punishes guests by asking them to hold a furry rabbit in their laps.

The use of rabbits as props is incredibly deleterious for their health as the mammal could be easily scared to death, the experts suggest.

A research says that fear-related heart attacks due to loud noises are common among bunnies. Despite awareness, the use of unoffending animals for entertainment purposes is becoming common in Pakistan.

On the other hand, most celebrities don’t feel comfortable holding an animal in their hands either.
