She has released a video on Facebook in which a man has been accused of conducting physical violence
Pakistan’s first transgender model Rimal Ali has alleged that a man named Jahanzeb Khan has tortured her.
She has released a video on Facebook in which a man has been accused of conducting physical violence. The model said the accused shaved her eyebrows and hair and put out cigarettes on her body.
Rimal Ali said that she was being tortured daily and that the suspect was wanted in four murder cases.
In her tweet, she said that after sharing the message on social media, her life is at risk, and if anything happened to her, Jahanzeb Khan is to be held responsible.
“I’m being barred from working in the showbiz industry”, she claimed.
Transgender model Rimal Ali has worked tirelessly for the film, TV, and fashion industries and has sought help from the media and the judiciary and appealed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to take notice of the incident.
Socially, transgender persons in Pakistan continue to be treated as lesser beings, having no right to claim privacy or personal dignity, or even safety.
Pakistani law includes provisions to protect the rights of transgender persons.
In 2009, Pakistan’s Supreme Court called on all provincial governments to recognize the rights of transgender people yet the gender is marginalized.
