Ushna Shah Nullifies Poor Content, Activism Blame on Artists
Lawyer Nighat Dad asked Pakistani drama artists to snub Instagram obsession and focus on good content as the prevailing one was damaging the struggle of feminists and activists
Pakistani actress Ushna Shah nullified the objection of lawyer Nighat Dad who targeted the drama industry and artists for producing destructive content which she considers to be a hindrance in a societal change.
The lawyer took to her Twitter account and asked Pakistani drama artists to snub Instagram obsession and focus on good content.
Nighat also criticized that the activism and feminism of Pakistani artists was limited to social media platforms.
If Pakistani drama artists focus more on their art instead of Instagram obsession we can have some good content on our TV screens. Unfortunately their performative activism and feminism is limited to social media platforms only. Itna takkaluf bhi kyun kertay hain aap?

“Why do you even bother to do that?”, she called into question.

In response, the actress Ushna Shah took exception against the degradation of artists.
She replied that the actors protest against it (poor content) in their domain behind the scenes but they aren’t the ones to give the final say.
She added that the performers are replaceable and they have bills to pay too.
Ushna artists really need to take a strong stance to bring noticeable change in scripts, our dramas at the moment are not helping society instead damaging the work of feminists & activists on ground. TBh it’s a fair criticism on our drama industry, no intention to degrade anyone.

“If you want us to strike, pls guarantee us work”, Ushna wrote in her reply.
However, Nighat Dad returned by saying that the artists really need to stand up for bringing a noticeable change.
The lawyer claimed that the current content in dramas was damaging the work of feminists and activists.
Blogger Faisal Kapadia backed Ushna’s stance and said arts reflect society.
Drama reflects what society is art reflects society. Ushna or nobody among the actors get to really choose other then do it or don’t do the character. The ppl who decide are the ones creating narrative.
