Based on the life of a cleric in the country who faced rejection from society, the film’s release was stalled due to protests by a religious political party.
The film was cleared by all three censor boards including CBFC, Punjab, and Sindh but its release was banned just three days before its schedule.
In an open letter written a few days earlier to the scheduled release, addressing to Pakistan’s president, Prime Minister, Chief of the Army Staff, Chief Justice, Ministry of Information, and the public, Sarmad Khoosat said that there was never any intention to attack, to point fingers at or humiliate any institution or individual.
