The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony scheduled in April this year has elected Pakistani-origin British actor Rizwan Ahmed for his leading role in Sound of Metal and Indian Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who produced and starred in The White Tiger, for Oscar nominations.  

American singer-songwriter Nick Jonas tweeted the news and shared some photos with the Oscar trophy mannequin to replicate if his wife has already bagged the award.

On the other hand, Rizwan Ahmed became the first Muslim and Pakistani-origin actor, who has been nominated for the Oscar for his leading role in the American drama film Sound of Metal, directed and co-written by Darius Marder in 2019.

The first British-Pakistani, Ahmed, and his film Sound of Metal has been nominated for various categories including best picture, best supporting actor, and best original screenplay.

The 38-year-old actor took to his Twitter account to express gratitude.

Interestingly, Steven Yuen will be the first Asian-American to compete against Riz for his nomination as best actor in Minari.

Previously, Mahershala Ali became the first Muslim actor to won two Oscars as a supporting actor for the film Moonlight in 2017 and 2019.

Internet users are super excited and sending their wishes for both Pakistani-British Actor and Indian Actress to bag victory in Oscar this year.
