Why Does ‘Mushk’, Story of Women Exploitation Becoming Popular?

Bhola of drama serial Ranjha Ranjha Kurdi Imran Ashraf is a well known TV actor but very few people know that there is also a hidden writer inside him. Recently, he has created the drama serial Mushk, which is being liked immensely by the tele watchers.

In a play where the best actors have the opportunity to showcase their talents, let’s try to find out what makes this play different from other dramas.

Nowadays there are only two types of dramas on TV, one which deals with the problems of middle-class families and the other which highlights the lifestyle of rich people, these two dramas have either typical daughter and mother-in-law quarrels, or the rich girl loves the poor boy or the poor girl loves the rich boy, other than that a fourth angle is rarely found but there is nothing like this in Mushk. It is more close to the dramas of the eighties.

Mushk is a pure and simple drama, whose story is close to the truth and the characterization is perfect. Imran Ashraf has worked hard to prepare the screenplay, in which his director Ahsan Talesh has helped him out a lot. In the early episodes, Imran Ashraf’s character Adam was just seen a few times, but as the story is progressing, everyone is realizing the importance of Adam.

Mushk is the story of a village where a landlord (Manzoor Qureshi) loves his eldest granddaughter Mehak (Momal Sheikh) but even the grandfather does not know that his granddaughter has married to her friend Shayan (Osama Tahir) and she is the mother of his child. Mehak is unaware of one thing that another landlord of the same area, Muqaddar Khan (Ahsan Talesh) is Shayan’s maternal uncle and wanted to make him his son in law but Shayan’s refusal has led him to imprison his own nephew, that’s why Shayan is missing.

Since Mehak did not tell anyone about her marriage, she used Guddi (Urwa Hussain) to dispel doubts about herself. Guddi (verbally agreed with her) that she would stay with her as a fake mother of her child, and when the time comes, she would pay Guddy and get rid of her. Guddy is wanted by the police for her wrongdoings and it is beneficial for her to join Mehak’s plan.

Adam (Imran Ashraf) is Mehak’s neighbor and loves her since childhood. He is the only man after Guddy who knows the real story of Mehak, when Mehak’s grandfather asks him to marry her in order to save his respect. Adam becomes confused between finding Shayan or adopting Mehak.Grandfather’s honor is again tarnished by his second granddaughter Roshni (Sahar Khan) who runs away with her acquaintance Saqib (Reza Talesh) on the wedding night, instead of getting married, Saqib sells him to the mistress because Saqib’s sister has fallen from the roof and becomes disable because of her father Hassan Ahmed.

The case of Roshni’s father (Hassan Ahmed) is also strange. His own wife (Zara Tareen) along with her acquaintance Dr. Rana (Raja Haider) is injecting poison so he can die slowly but Guddy finds out. She traps Dr. Rana and tries to save the life of Roshni’s father.

Each actor is performing the role brilliantly. Usually in Pakistani dramas, more importance is given to the actors than the roles, the bigger the name, the bigger the role is given, but not in Mushk, it seems that whatever role is given to each actor no one could be better. Osama Tahir looks brilliant as Shayan, Momal Sheikh fit in the role of Mehak, if there was someone else in the role of Guddy instead of Urva Hussain, the fans would not have fun, and Imran Ashraf Adopt Adam as if he had forgotten himself earlier and adopted Rehan Chaudhry. Manzoor Qureshi, the hero of the past, is liked by everyone as grandfather. He is being appreciated on all sides for his lively acting, and that is the reason for his success. Zara Tareen is being abused by everyone, not for herself but for the character she is playing and this is claiming her success as an actress. Her character thinks only for herself regardless of anyone around her.

This serial holds emotions, drama, tragedy as well as action.

In a play, if dialogues are not good, then people do not remember it and it does not resonate. In Mushk, on one hand, there are memorable dialogues, and on the other hand, such acting that is not dialogue bound but real-life character.

In this story, where the failed love of Shayan and Mehak is mentioned, the story of savage maternal uncle’s cruelty, Adam’s imperfect love, grandfather’s deteriorating nature, and Guddy’s demons are mentioned. Senior actor Qawi Khan is also seen in the role of a Quli (porter) and the fans are stunned to see him because he has never played such a role in his seven-decade career before.Hassan Talish’s excellent direction made the viewers fall in love with Mushk. If the captain of a ship is good, he can take it out of any storm, similarly, if the director of any play is an expert in his work, he can take out the best work from the worst actor, and here in Mushk, the story and cast are outstanding.

Ahsan Talesh, after a long time, directed as well as acted in the play and proved his expertise in both fields.

This is Ahsan’s third play with actor Imran Ashraf as a director, while the second time he is working on a script written by him. Before that, Imran Ashraf and Ahsan Talesh have also presented drama serial Tabeer as writer and director. In this drama, the character of Imran Ashraf dies in the first episode, but in Mushk, Adam has the ability to kill, not to die.

To find out what will happen next in the story, don’t forget to watch Mushk every Saturday.
