There is no doubt that the Turkish dramas are extremely popular in Pakistan. Whether it’s “Mera Sultan” or the Ertugrul series, their fame is at an all-time high. The majority of local population including children, women, young and old, all have become addicted to the recently showcased Ertugrul series, whose almost all the characters are extremely famous in the public.
However many people are interpreting it as invasion in Pakistani society. They say that our social structure has its own dynamics. It is undoubtedly very different and unique in its nature, therefore, instead of Turkish stuff, Pakistani dramas should be given priority and shown on local TV screens in order to highlight local problems.
It is also true that our own locally made dramas are also very popular in public, especially Pakistani women tele watchers like local dramas and TV shows more than Turkish stuff, and that’s why local drama are getting good rating too but they are compelled to share the rating phenomenon with Turkish software. That’s the reason local drama companies, producers and actors are unhappy with foreign production.
The local critics demand that Pakistan should show Turkish dramas only on the condition that Turkey should also show Pakistani dramas on their TV screens.
Pakistani film superstar Shaan Shahid in his latest TV interview has highlighted that the issue of foreign stuff and said that although Turkish dramas including Ertugrul are good to watch, that’s why local population is also liking them but he said that we should focus on our own region. It is good to know that how Turkish Muslims faced the challenges in past, however we need to know how Islam came to our region.
