Zahid Ahmed Advocates “Intimacy” In Pakistani Dramas
“We have been directed by channels and given guidelines on how to avoid the display of affection on screens"
Zahid Iftikhar Ahmed, a Pakistani television actor and former Radio Jockey (RJ), has advocated intimate scenes in Pakistani dramas.
Ahmed worked as a creative manager for the state’s national channel and later became an RJ. He made his debut with a leading role in the play It Runs in the Family in 2006.
Zahid Ahmed maintained that in Pakistan, it is allowed to show domestic violence in Pakistani dramas, however, the intimacy between the couple is forbidden.
“We have been directed by channels and given guidelines on how to avoid the display of affection on screens, and that’s so strange because according to the same directive, we can grab our wives by the hair and give them a beating!”

The actor advocated for the affectionate and adoring scenes in the local dramas. He claimed that the guidelines from the channels hold that affection between the husband and wife shouldn’t be shown on screens. However, the guidelines allow violent or domestic abuse in the dramas.
In times, when Netflix and other streaming services are on the upswing globally, our dramas are in need to promote the reality of life.
