Actor Zara Noor Abbas has called for ending another taboo for women to get married after a certain age or have a second chance at marriage after a divorce or having children.
“In a south Asian society, it’s always been a taboo for women to get married after a certain age or have a second chance at marriage after a divorce or having children,” Zara Noor Abbas wrote on Instagram and raised some questions.
“But how can any of this define a woman’s personal choice of picking herself and her happiness above and before the judgements and opinions of the society?”
“Why can’t a woman be heavily dressed on her 2nd wedding. Or 3rd for that matter. Why can’t a woman celebrate herself if she has crossed 30 and is now to get married?”
She said, “’Mujhe Haq Hai’ is a campaign which is dedicated to women who step up in order to choose themselves by celebrating their life according to their will and choice. Women who break Barriers and judgments and DECIDE to choose respect, freedom of choice and self-love.”
