International actress and model Zoha Rehman’s short film ‘Eid Mubarak’ made on the theme of Eid-ul-Adha has been selected for Oscar nomination.
The short film qualified for the Academy Awards after winning the Jury Award at the New York International Children’s Film Festival. The judges included Uma Thurman and Kyle McLachlan, among other high-calibre professionals.
The main idea of this short film Eid Mubarak is based on the events of the writer and director Mah Noriosov’s childhood. The film team hopes that the universal spirit of sacrifice found among Muslims on ‘Eid Mubarak’ will lead to mainstream media spreading awareness and building bridges of understanding between cultures.
From the colors to the composition, every frame of ‘Eid Mubarak’ is a testament to the creativity and hard work of the entire team, which includes American and Pakistani artisans.
The film was shot in May 2022 in Karachi for 5 consecutive days of 12, 12 hours. The film was completed in Los Angeles last summer. The film has since won numerous awards at the Seattle, Los Angeles and New York film festivals.
