In US: After Taking Vaccine, One Can Still Get Covid-19

Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) announced at least three people, who received both doses of either Moderna or Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, contracted covid-19.

“This number is not outside what we would expect with nearly 165,000 people in Hawai‘i who are fully vaccinated,” the DOH wrote.

The officials are using these cases to highlight the importance of staying cautious even after being jabbed.

The department maintained none of three patients appeared to pass the virus on to anyone else and are not severely ill.

As per reports, one patient was a healthcare worker in Oahu who had a traveling history after inoculation in early January.

The health worker who was jabbed with the vaccine and his travel companion were tested for covid-19 but the reports were not revealed till there safe return to Hawaii.

Dr Melinda Ashton of Hawaii Pacific Health told media that the results are a reminder for people to continue taking precautions while a majority is still not vaccinated.

“Absolutely you need to be careful during those times when you’re in the airport, on the airplane, with other people in larger groups”, he added.

As per sources, United States (US) has so far administered more than 124 million doses of covid-19 vaccines, while at least 44 million people have been fully vaccinated, amounting to around 13 per cent of the population.

Hawaii is ahead of rest of the US as a whole in vaccinations, as around 27% of the state’s residents have been administered a dose and more than 16% have been fully vaccinated, the reports revealed.

So far, the recorded coronavirus cases in the state are nearly around 29,000.
