Coronavirus Vaccination to Kickoff in Pakistan by February

Parliamentary Secretary for Health confirmed that more than 300,000 healthcare workers have been registered for first jabs

Parliamentary Secretary for Health Dr Nausheen Hamid has announced that the coronavirus mass vaccination would start from next month in Pakistan.

Dr Nausheeen told that the procurement of the coronavirus vaccine is in the final phases and hoped that the immunization would help bring down the rate of infection in Pakistan.

The parliamentary secretary confirmed that the government is going for advance booking of the Sinopharm vaccine and it would arrive in Pakistan by February end.

In the first phase of the mass vaccination program in Pakistan, Dr Nausheen said that the coronavirus vaccine would be administered to frontline health workers .

Dr Nausheen Hamid confirmed this while talking to News360 and said that more than 300,000 healthcare workers have been registered for first jabs.

In this regard, the National Command and Control Center (NCOC) has developed a website for the registration of health workers.

She added that the passengers arriving from Britain have to undergo coronavirus tests before and after landing in Pakistan.

Dr Nausheen said that travelers from Britain who had escaped it before the rule was enforced were identified and put under isolation with strict monitoring.

Regarding the protesting employees of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Dr Nausheen told News360 that the government was in contact with them.

She added that there were loopholes in the healthcare system of Pakistan that were being removed.

The official stated that the patients do not get relief while there is an absence in quality of service too.

Dr Nausheen said that the healthcare system could not be reformed without uplifting the system.

She added that governments have to face resistance when they make changes.

However, Dr Nausheen said all problems would be resolved soon.
