Covid-19 Vaccine Mired in Disparity, Origin Dispute
The report by The Economist suggests that the delay in inoculation in the developing states may result in a high price tag

As per a report published in The Economist, rich countries have administered the covid-19 vaccine 100 times to poorer countries.
The report also suggests that the delay in inoculation of the covid-19 vaccine in developing states may result in a high price tag.
The Economist shared a model suggested by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) which holds that the countries with less than 60% of vaccinated population will face huge GDP losses of approx. $2.3 trillion by 2025.
“Vaccine inequity will also have huge political, social and geopolitical consequences”, the report added.

On the other hand, the search for the origin of the covid-19 pandemic is at a halt as the experts in China failed to share the initial investigation with the scientists charged with the task by United Nations (UN).
The experts maintained that the search for the origin of coronavirus is at a critical juncture as the window of opportunity for conducting the crucial inquiry is ‘closing fast’.
World Health Organization (WHO) urged China to hand over the information of the earliest 174 infections identified in December 2019 but the country said that the calls for further data were actually motivated by politics, not science.
The scientists also maintained that tracing the data is becoming more difficult as the evidence disappears or becomes corrupted.
Meanwhile, China’s Foreign Ministry expressed it is a “pity” that the search for coronavirus origins stalled but maintained that China has no role in the delay.
“China has always supported and will continue to participate in the science-based origin tracing efforts”, he said.
