Amid coronavirus cases’ spike in the country, the federal government, in a significant step to control pathogen, once again changed the campaign’s slogan.

With recent increase in cases across Pakistan, the government, rest assured of precautionary measures, has changed “corona sy darna nahi larna ha” in an exclusive move to combat the deadly virus.

“Corona waba ha ehtiyat jis ki shifa ha” replaced the previous one on the recommendation of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) for its campaign running on different media platforms.

The pandemic has so far killed more than 13,000 people in Pakistan while the number of active cases has now exceeded 22,000.

Pakistan is facing a third wave deemed as a deadlier one as compared with the previous two.

According to the National Command & Operation Centre’s (NCOC’s) data, Pakistan’s positivity rate spiked up to 7.8 % in the ongoing month.

The government, instead of focusing more on vaccination and ensuring implementation of precautionary measures, was engrossed in remaking the slogan.

The decision wasn’t well-received by the masses and ran into huge criticism.

At this unprecedented move, the journalist Waseem Abbasi was right to question ‘who says the government doesn’t work?’.

The tweet by Waseem Abbasi garnered several mocking comments.
