WEB DESK: The second wave of novel coronavirus has infected and killed many prominent figures in the country.
Most recently Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Sindh Jam Madad Ali has succumbed to the coronavirus recently after succumbing to the virus following prolonged illness. Health department officials said that although the deceased’s coronavirus test resulted back negative, the virus had damaged Ali’s lungs to the point of no recovery.
A few days back, the Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Rashid Rabbani died of the virus too.
JUDGES
Besides this, the pandemic virus has not spared judges and two of them succumbed to the deadly disease.
Lahore Additional Sessions Judge Sultan Syed was reported dead after remaining under treatment at Lahore Services Hospital and passed away on November 11.
Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth also died of the fatal infection after remaining in bed for 10 days at Kulsoom International Hospital (KIH) in Islamabad on Thursday.
He was appointed as an adhoc judge in PHC in 2011.
POLITICIANS AND MINISTERS
Further, ex-Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf also tested positive for novel coronavirus after which he has gone under self-isolation. His son, Khurram Pervaiz, confirmed the detection of the virus in the former premier and appealed to the nation to pray for his father’s speedy recovery.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal has also been infected and now he is overseeing operations from home.
Moreover, the politicians including Qamar Zaman Kaira of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Punjab Minister of Industries and Production Mian Aslam Iqbal, and Minister for Consolidation of Holding Sumsam Bukhari have been tested positive and currently in quarantine.
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Capt (R) Safdar is also under self-isolation at his house in Jati Umrah in Lahore after getting infected with the pandemic virus.
