Gamma Knife has been installed at the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Ojha campus by the Sindh government which is the first in the public sector.
What is Gamma Knife procedure?
It is a computerized painless treatment that delivers highly focused radiation to tumors and lesions in the brain.
Although its name has the word ‘knife’, this procedure does not involve any incisions.
Some 192 “beamlets” of radiation converge on the tumor in the brain and do not damage the surrounding normal tissue.
