No vaccines coming?

While briefing the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on the vaccine availability, National Health Service (NHS) Secretary Amir Ashraf Khawaja said the vaccine ordered last year had been already distributed.

However, this year, the government has no intention to order the vaccines instead they would prefer to receive doses only in donation.

However, the secretary informed PAC that the Chinese pharmaceutical company, Sinopharm, had donated 500,000 vaccines. Some 275,000 shots would be earmarked for health professionals, he told PAC.

Whereas, Major General Amir Ikram, Executive Director (ED) of the National Institute of Health (NIH), said that the cost of a single dose of Chinese vaccine was $13.

According to media reports, medical representatives in Pakistan are still reluctant for taking vaccine jabs.
