First Transgender Paved Way to The Office of State Senator
Sarah McBride surpassed Republican Steve Washington, making the history as first elected agender in the US
WEB DESK: Sarah McBride is to become the first transgender state senator in the US after she won her race in Delaware.
30 year old Sarah beat Republican Steve Washington to take over the seat from Democrat Harris McDowell, who is standing down.
“We did it. We won the general election. Thank you, thank you, thank you”, McBride tweeted after victory.

Ms McBride, 30, has worked as the press secretary of LGBTQ advocacy group the Human Rights Campaign and was a trainee in President Obama’s White House.
She is one of a handful of candidates who has made history in a nail-biting night across the country.
“I hope tonight shows an LGBTQ kid that our democracy is big enough for them, too,” Ms McBride tweeted after her win.National Press Secretary at Human Rights Campaign, McBride, ran on a platform for paid family and medical leaves for workers, reducing costs for health care and building up public schools.
Transgender-rights-activist has also played crucial role in a movement for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, queer and others (LGBTQ+).
