Former Beauty Queen Ripped-Off Crown From Mrs Sri Lanka

In a bizarre incident that took place in Sri Lanka, the winner of a major Sri Lankan beauty pageant suffered head injuries when her crown was clutched back by the former beauty queen after result announcement on Sunday.
“Mrs Sri Lanka” title was won by Pushpika De Silva and the 2019 “Mrs Sri Lanka” winner Caroline Jurie came to crown her on the stage in her “Mrs World” sash.
Moments later, the former winner made an outré announcement that the crown belongs to those who are not divorced.
“As for the Mrs. World, there is a rule that you have to be married and not divorced”, Jurie said.

She further announced that the crown should go to the first runner-up and then walked over to De Silva and seized her crown.
Jurie untangled the crown awfully from the winner’s head and crowned the runner-up with the beautiful golden ornament.
“I am taking steps to make the crown go to second place”, Mrs Jurie told the audience.
Meanwhile, De Silva left the stage in tears.
The organizers contacted De Silva who confirmed that she is separated not divorced and as reported, she had retained the title.
De Silva maintained in a post on social media that she had to take medical aid for the head injuries she got because of de-crowning.
Mrs De Silva said she would take legal action for “unreasonable and insulting” way she was treated, BBC reported.
“There are a lot of single mums like me today who are suffering in Sri Lanka,” she told a press conference.
“This crown is dedicated to those women, those single mums who are suffering to raise their kids alone”, she added.
The national director of Mrs Sri Lanka World said it was a disgrace how Caroline Jurie behaved with the winner on stage and the organization is investigating the matter.
