Not Law but the Buffalo Settles Ownership Issue Itself
The bovine walked up to the real owner after set on loose
WEB DESK: A buffalo in India settled an alleged theft case by itself without letting the police decide who its real owner was.
A local of Ali Nagar had lodged a complaint with the jurisdiction police, claiming that his friend Dharmendra had stolen the bovine and sold it. However, the accused denied the charges and maintained that he was the real owner of the buffalo.
The police took an interesting move to resolve the case. Instead of probing into the matter and wasting time, it brought the buffalo to the police station and summoned both parties in the case. The domestic animal was then left on the loose. Both Virendra and Dharmendra were then asked to summon the buffalo after which it walked up to the latter, settling the ownership issue itself.
A police official Vijayakant Mishra said that he tried the unique idea of letting the animal decide about its owner without getting into litigation.
