WEB DESK: Barrow, one of the northern towns in Alaska, has nearly about two months of darkness in winters.
In Barrow, the sun set on November 18 to rise again on January 23.
Utqiaġvik, known as Barrow until 2016, is a remote town at the tip of Alaska, not accessible by road.
The average high temperature remains approximately below zero from December to March.
There will be total darkness for around 67 days called ‘polar nights’.

Polar night is the time period when the sun does not rise above the horizon resulting in darkness for more than 24-hours.
With the winters taking over the northern hemisphere, there is less daylight leaving some places in complete darkness.
Although the sun will not be visible, there will be dull light over the region.
