KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Aamir Liaquat Hussain, a former leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), called for holding dialogues with Altaf Hussain if it could be held with Taliban.

Aamir Liaquat Hussain, while addressing a rally in connection with Muhajir Culture Day in Karachi on Friday, said, “If it is possible to hold talks with Taliban, then why not with Altaf Hussain.”

The PTI MNA, in front of a large number of participants, said that people should not forget the one who had introduced the [Muhajir] ideology.

The video clip of Hussain’s address has gone viral on social media in which he was calling for holding negotiations with London-based Altaf Hussain, who is facing several cases of anti-state and hatred speeches in Pakistan. Farooq Sattar was also seen standing alongside Aamir Liaquat Hussain in the event.

However, MQM leader Farooq Sattar has dissociated himself from Hussain’s statement.

The PTI MNA posted a video message on Twitter after his surprise speech, clarifying his statement, “I am a player of Imran Khan who taught him to speak the truth.” He said that Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are evils and dialogues could not be held with the evils.

He criticised that if talks with evils are okay then why the government is not going to hold talks with Altaf Hussain. He censured that how can talks be held with such evils when they are operating from India to target Pakistan.

The NA lawmaker said, “In this scenario, when our enemies are in large numbers, why shouldn’t we hold dialogues with such people who may select the right path. Why these doors are closed for a leader?”

He has also the power centre to review its strategies if it will consider holding dialogues with Altaf Hussain. Aamir Liaquat Hussain said that he is ready to go to hold dialogues if the government makes a decision on it.
