ABAD halts work on all construction projects in Karachi

Chairman Mohsin Sheikhani says investors are not satisfied and government measures for construction industry are inadequate.

The Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) has halted all kinds of construction activities in the city from today, said its Chairman Mohsin Sheikhani.

He said that we need to satisfy the investors.

The ABAD chief said that work on all projects under construction in Karachi has been stopped.

Sheikhani described the government measures in the construction sector as inadequate, saying that the institutions from which the project is approved are not accepted later.

We should be informed clearly from which department the builders and developers should get the no-objection certificate (NoC), which will not be challenged later, he questioned.

Mohsin Sheikhani said that first a project is approved and later objections are raised on it causing problems for both the builder and the buyer.

He added that the ABAD has therefore decided to stop construction work in Karachi from today.
