Ahsan Iqbal thinks corruption not a hurdle in country’s progress

Analysts say the main reason for India's growth is not corruption but the continuation of sustainable democracy.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said, there are many countries in the world that have committed more corruption than us but they are developing. Corruption is not the main reason for development but political instability is the biggest reason. Analysts say that Mexico, Chile, and the Philippines are more corrupt than us but these countries have not developed. Will the Minister of Planning shed light on this?

Addressing a seminar in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said that corruption was not the main reason for Pakistan’s lack of development. There isn’t any country in the world that has consistently implemented and developed projects during political instability.

He said that it would take at least ten years for the reforms to be carried out to move the country on the path of development. As long as there is no continuity of ten years, no matter how good the work you want, it will not give results. We have failed to maintain the policies within this country. The main reason for this is our internal political stickiness.

Ahsan Iqbal said that I can give the example of many countries which have done more corruption than us but they have developed, but we will not find any country where there is political instability and that country will develop.

Citing the example of India and Bangladesh, Ahsan Iqbal said that these countries had more corruption than us but they developed. There is a problem with structure in Pakistan that does not allow Pakistan to move forward.

Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal further said that an economy based on imports never develops. He said that we have never focused on an economy based on exports. Developed countries have made exports their main source of income.

Political analysts say that according to Ahsan Iqbal’s philosophy, countries in the world develop by corruption. What kind of formula and what kind of philosophy is this and where does it come from? Ahsan Iqbal Sahib, tell us which countries have committed corruption and developed there.

In Panama, for example, there was a lot of corruption, did progress happen there? In countries like Mexico, Chile, and the Philippines where corruption is rampant, have those countries developed? No, because corruption leaves the economic roots of any country hollow.

Analysts say that Ahsan Iqbal gave the example of India, where there was more corruption than us but it is developing, so the straightforward answer is that there may be corruption in India, But the main reason for India’s development is not corruption but India is developing on the basis of its democracy. In terms of population, India is so large that it has to develop. No matter how much corruption they want, they will make progress. Their system is not based on corruption. It is based on democracy. They work within the system and democracy.
