ANP Mayoral Candidate Umar Khattab Sherani Shot Dead in D I Khan

A day earlier, police and agencies had launched an intelligence-led operation against terrorists in the Kalachi area of Dera Ismail Khan.
The most wanted terrorist commander Tahir Zaman alias Basit was killed during the operation. Security forces also recovered a grenade and weapons from his possession.
It may be recalled that four members of the same family were killed in a firing incident in Pathar village on the outskirts of Tank city on Thursday.
Police said the victim’s family was on their way to Murtaza’s area when the assailants ambushed their vehicle. As a result, a man, two women and a two-year-old child of the family died.
According to police, a man named Kaptan was going to his village Murtaza in a car with his family after Tank’s appearance in the local court. However, as they approached the Gadra stone bridge, the assailants opened fire on them.
Local police have registered a case of murder against five named accused on the report of Nasir, the uncle of the slain captain. The cause of the incident was said to be old enmity.
Analysts say two shootings in two days, in which four members of the same family, including a senior ANP leader, were killed, have sparked a debate over whether it was a plot to sabotage local government elections in the province. So it is not being prepared.
