ANP rejects joining PM Shehbaz Sharif for Umrah on state expenditures

ANP has rejected to join Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for visiting Saudi Arabia for performing Umrah on state expenditures.

The coalition partner of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government, Awami National Party (ANP) has rejected to join Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for visiting Saudi Arabia for performing Umrah on state expenditures.

ANP central leader Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said in a Twitter message that they excused from going to perform Umrah with PM Shehbaz Sharif on state expenditures. He said that ANP is grateful for being invited on the Saudi Arabia visit.

Hoti added that ANP witnesses PM’s Saudi Arabia visit as an important move in terms of the national unity, however, it is not their traditions to perform Umrah on the state level.

In another tweet, he said that the religious rites are an individual’s will. ANP leaders had also performed Umrah and they will perform it in the future as well. He clarified that ANP leaders, however, will not perform Umrah on state level.

He expressed hopes that the new government will take the political leadership in confidence by maintaining the national unity.

Ameer Haider Khan Hoti’s statement has proven that PM Sharif’s Saudi Arabia visit along with a delegation will be performed on state expenditures.

Earlier, Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb had claimed in Twitter messages,

She said, “Contrary to lies being propagated by PTI, Prime Minister will be travelling to Saudi Arabia later this week on a commercial flight at his own expense. Even during his 10 years as CM Punjab during 2008-18, he always travelled commercially and at his own expense.”

In another tweet, she slammed former info minister Fawad Chaudhry, saying that he should be ashamed for his allegation as PM Shehbaz Sharif was not visiting Saudi Arabia on a chartered flight and termed the media report ‘fake’.
