Senior journalist and anchorperson Amir Mateen has revealed the reason for not holding special transmission on senior journalist Arshad Sharif’s killing case.
Amir Mateen expressed outrage in Twitter messages, saying, “There is a question if you are not involved in Arshad Sharif’s murder then why every TV channel is being threatened via telephone calls for what to say and what not to say? Martial law should be imposed directly and murder all rebellious persons like Arshad Sharif. What is the need for staging this drama?”

“There is a lesson in it. Next time, an individual should ask about the definition of patriotism before exhibiting it. When you get an order then take a U-turn immediately and enforce it without using your brain. Most of the journalists who are employees of the media owners would have to follow the orders or sit at their homes.”

A journalist Osama Bin Javaid raised a question, “Amir, How many of these friends wore black bands on their shows today? How many journalists resonated with #JournalismIsNotACrime? Answering his question, Mateen said that Javaid has raised a very important point. He said that 90 per cent of the TV programs considered the killing of Arshad Sharif to be only a compulsion and only talked about nonsense politics. He also criticised for not raising a strong voice for demanding justice for the slain journalist who had became victims of violence.

Senior journalist, TV anchor and YouTuber Arshad Sharif was killed in Kenya’s capital Nairobi on Sunday night. Arshad Sharif is one of the renowned investigative journalists of Pakistan who covered major political events in the country for national and international media outlets.
Kenyan police said that the journalist was shot in the head and killed by police after he and his driver allegedly breached a roadblock. The police claimed that Sharif was shot dead in a ‘mistaken identity’ case.
