Asad Umar: Inevitable that Omicron variant will come to Pakistan
Federal minster says we have weeks to reduce its threat.
Planning Minister Asad Umar has warned that omicron, the latest variant of Covid-19, will ultimately reach Pakistan, adding that the next three weeks are very important.
Speaking at a press conference alongwith Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan, the federal minister urged the citizens to get vaccinated and complete their doses.
He said that this variant has to spread in the entire world as the world is so interconnected that it is impossible to halt it.

He added that, according to the initial information, vaccination will be effective against Omicron, which is very dangerous.
Asad Umar appealed to people to get themselves vaccinated because this is effective to protect ourselves from this new variant.
He said that a mass vaccination campaign will be launched in the provinces in the next two to three days. Also the number of daily tests are being increased. The contact-tracing system will be revived as well, he added.
The federal minister said that consultation would be completed by tomorrow regarding administering booster shots to the people most at risk from the Covid.
