Australia postpones historic first-ever Test against Afghanistan
Decision had been taken in the wake of a reported ban on women’s cricket in Kabul.
The Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed that they had cancelled the first-ever Test match against Afghanistan.
The CA said that the decision had been taken in the wake of a reported ban placed on women’s cricket in the crises-hit country.
The Test match was scheduled to be played on November 27 in Hobart.
The Australian cricket board said that they have received reports that there is a ban on women’s cricket in Afghanistan after Taliban takeover. We are committed to support growing the sports for men and women in Afghanistan and around the world, the CA further said. However, keeping in view the prevailing uncertainty, the Cricket Australia feels the Test match should be postponed until the situation is improved.

We are looking forward to host Afghan players in the coming BBL this season. The Afghan cricketers are great ambassadors for the sports, the CA further said.
Mohammed Nabi, the Afghan national T20 captain, termed the postponement of the test as disappointing. I am disappointed that the match is not going to be played this year. But, he said, I am glad that the Test match is just postponed and not canceled.
Nabi said that the Cricket Australia had assured the Afghanistan cricket board that it is remain committed to the promotion and development of cricket in Afghanistan. He added that he was looking forward to hear how we can jointly work in this connection.
