Australian Cricket Team Won Hearts Promoting Their Culture

60,000 year old culture was highlighted on the jerseys worn by the Australian cricket team in the match against India

Australian cricket team players wore unique jerseys highlighting the 60,000-year-old culture of the indigenous people in the first T20I match between India and Australia.

The first T20I match between India and Australia was played on December 4 where the hosts wore an interesting jersey which is different than the traditional color scheme of yellow and green, paying tribute to their cultural heritage.

The jersey is designed by indigenous women Aunty Fiona Clarke and Courtney Hagen and the kit boasts some of the most famous traditional motifs of their culture printed on a charcoal black background.

The jersey has interesting patterns on it, the golden stars represent the ancestors and the green circles stand for unity and continuity on it.

In a video shared by the Twitter account of the Australian Cricket Board, pacer Mitchell Starc described the design and the patterns on the jersey.

On the announcement of the cricketers’ plans on wearing the unique jersey, players and fans appreciated the gesture and appreciated the team’s effort to recognize the people that come together and make the country, collective as a nation.

The Indian cricket team too decided to wear an alternate kit, a uniform with dark blue as its base color highlighting navy blue, green, red, and white stripes over the shoulders.
