ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has taken oath as the new foreign minister and he will now face some major challenges on the diplomatic front.
After assuming the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his first federal position, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be facing a series of challenges on the diplomatic front.
One of the major challenges included negotiations with the Taliban as PPP has a strict stance against the Taliban. However, the national policy remained in favour of the Taliban after the departure of US-led forces from Afghanistan. There is an ideological clash between PPP and the Taliban, hence, Bilawal will have to find a solution to this issue.
The former government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had also accepted officially to hold banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) factions to bring longstanding peace in the areas bordering Afghanistan.
The second major challenge will be improving ties with the United States (US) which deteriorated after Pakistan’s inclination towards Russia as former prime minister Imran Khan paid an official visit to Moscow. The ex-premier had publically announced to bear the pressure of the US government not to incline toward Russia.
After Shehbaz Sharif assumed the prime minister’s position, he announced to improve ties with the United States (US).
As the new FM, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will have to face the challenge of maintaining good bilateral ties between Pakistan and the US.
The third challenge will be suggesting a peaceful solution for two conflicting countries, Ukraine and Russia, as Pakistan will have to hail a diplomatic solution to the crisis which would be acceptable globally.
