At least 14 killed, scores wounded in Karachi’s Sher Shah blast

According to initial reports, a gas pipeline passing through a drain in the area leaked which caused an explosion.

At least 14 people were killed and several others injured in a blast in the Sher Shah Paracha Chowk area of ​​Karachi. Police say they are trying to determine the nature of the blast.

Dr Sabir Memon, head of the Trauma Center at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Hospital, confirmed that ten people had been killed in the blast.

Talking to media, Dr Sabir Memon said that the condition of four of the injured was critical.

According to reports, the blast took place at drain in Sher Shah Paracha Chowk and severely damaged a nearby bank building.

According to the initial report of the police officials, the explosion took place after the gas pipeline leaked which caused the explosion. Because the gas pipeline was passing through the drain where the explosion took place.

Rescue officials say the blast appears to have taken place inside a drain. Rescue workers are conducting rescue operations at the site and the injured are being shifted to a nearby hospital.
