Affidavit of Rana Shamim, Situation Becomes Serious for Jang Group and Ex Judge

A contempt of court hearing was held on the affidavit of Justice (retd) Rana Shamim in the Islamabad High Court yesterday. Circumstances and events are telling that former Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan Rana Muhammad Shamim was left alone.

Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Atharmanullah had on November 26 heard the case of self-notice of serious allegations against former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar by former Chief Justice Rana Shamim, following which social media But there was a commotion.

PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif, Vice President Maryam Nawaz, PML-N spokespersons Maryam Aurangzeb and Ahsan Iqbal among others criticized the decisions of Chief Justice (retd) Saqib Nisar in their own way on social networking site Twitter. He was targeted and recited poems of Nawaz Sharif’s innocence.

During the hearing on November 26, PML-N spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb, Maryam Nawaz’s lawyer Ata Tarar and other leaders had reached the court and held a formal hearing of the case.

PML-N vice president and Nawaz Sharif’s son Maryam Nawaz even held a long and wide press conference the day after the hearing. In which the innocence of the former Prime Minister was claimed.

Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah on Tuesday held the second hearing of the contempt case. Former Chief Justice of GB Rana Muhammad Shamim Banafs appeared in the court.

Appearing before the court, at the beginning of the hearing, Justice Athar Minallah blocked Rana Shamim on the rostrum and asked, “Have you submitted a written reply?” On this Rana Shamim said that my lawyer will explain why the answer could not be entered.

Former Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan Rana Shamim has stated in the Islamabad High Court that his statement was affidavit which he did not give for publication and he did not know how it reached the media.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah asked, “Did you give the affidavit in London for any purpose?” The court is giving you 5 days, submit your answer, what is the purpose of giving this affidavit after 3 years? You tried to win the trust of the people from the court, in your written reply whatever you have to say, and adjourned the hearing till December 7.

Political analysts say that 24 hours have passed since the second contempt of court hearing on Rana Shamim’s affidavit, but there is complete silence in the PML-N camps. Neither Maryam Nawaz has released any Twitter message, nor is Maryam Aurangzeb Koki, Advocate Ata Tarar is also completely silent and Ahsan Iqbal’s statement has not been seen anywhere. This means that the PML-N has run out of air.

He said that after the hearing on November 26, the top leaders of PML-N had exploded bombs while taking up positions on social media but now the roar of their cannons could not be heard. This means that they have left Rana Muhammad Shamim alone in the field.

The next hearing is set for seven days, analysts say. And former Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Justice Rana Shamim has stated in the Islamabad High Court that his statement was an affidavit which he did not give for publication. It remains to be seen what the court will do with Rana Muhammad Shamim, Jang Group owner Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman and journalist Ansar Abbasi.
