Duplicity of Government in Filling Treasury Becomes Visible

The duplicity of the government in filling treasury has come to the fore as it launched an anti-encroachment operation around Khokar palace in Lahore to add millions to the treasury but it has decided to credit the famous F-9 Park in Islamabad as a security to get the loan.

The government conducted an operation around Khokar Palace in Lahore and claimed to recover 38 kanals land worth Rs 1.25 billion.

The palace in Johar Town of Lahore is the residence of PML-N Lahore Senior Vice President Saiful Malook Khokhar and MNA Malik Afzal Khokhar.

However, on the other hand, the government has decided to mortgage F-9 Park in Islamabad to avail a loan of Rs 500 billion.

The F-9 Park is also known as Fatima Jinnah Park stretching over 759 acres of land. It is one of the largest covered green areas in Pakistan.

The duplicity of the government is filling the treasury is visible from the acts, on one hand, it is mortgaging a recreational site while on the other hand, it is razing down the established properties instead of finding a solution through which it could generate money from them.

This is not the first time that public property is being mortgaged.

The government had previously mortgaged Jinnah International Airport to get a loan of Rs 500 billion as well as a power generation plant to borrow Rs 200 billion.

Now, the duplicity of the government is reflective of how it is mortgaging its commercial properties to get loans sanctioned while on the other hand, it has raised down establishments in Lahore that belonged to the members of the opposition party.
