ECC approves Rs 500m for each NA member despite economic crises
ECC under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar completely ignored worst economic situation and increased discretionary funds of members of parliament to Rs 90 billion. 844 million rupees have also been allocated for renovation of judges residences, and Supreme Court building.
The federal government, ignoring the most difficult economic crises of the country, has approved to increase in the discretionary expenses of the members of parliament up to 90 billion rupees.
In the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, the budget for the development schemes of the members of parliament has been increased to 90 billion rupees.
The PDM government had allocated a budget of 70 billion rupees for the development schemes of the members of parliament, but it was increased to 87 billion rupees after some time.
Each MNA used to get 500 million rupees from the budget for development schemes of parliamentarians, but now with the new addition, the budget for development schemes has reached to 90 billion rupees.
The ECC approved an additional Rs 3 billion despite the National Austerity Committee’s recommendation to withhold funding for MPs’ schemes.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, struggling with the worst economic situation, has also allocated Rs 844 million for the renovation of judges’ residences, the Supreme Court building.
According to the Finance Ministry, a supplementary grant of Rs 844.4 million has been approved for the maintenance of Supreme Court buildings, judges’ residences, rest houses and subsidiary offices. .

The government has decided to reduce the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) budget by Rs 1.4 billion, Rs 800 million allocated for the construction of the Planning House.
