Elections: Sheikh Rasheed says ‘good news due to come before May 31’

Former interior minister and AML chief Sheikh Rasheed predicted that good news regarding fresh elections will come before May 31.

ISLAMABAD: Former interior minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed has predicted that the nation will get good news regarding the fresh elections before May 31.

Sheikh Rasheed made the statement during a conversation with ARY News political analysis programme ‘Off the Record’.

“They told us selected. We are now telling them that you are selected and imported. They told us to hold elections. We answered them that the elections will be held at an appropriate time.” Regarding elections, Rasheed said that they are now demanding fresh polls but the present government is not giving a specific time, according to ARY News.

“I have news that elections will be held. A solution to organise new elections will come forth within 15 to 20 days. Elections is the national interests, regardless of the constitution of a federal cabinet. Some people are becoming a hurdle in the process, however, they will take some time to realise this situation.”

The ex-interior minister said that everyone should sense the situation if Imran Khan gives a call for the Islamabad march. “I’ve told my friends to settle this issue before the call to Islamabad march. The imported rulers will soon flee the country,” he told ARY News.

A week ago, during the Lahore power show, Imran Khan had signalled to give a call for Islamabad’s long march for taking forward his political campaign against the coalition government to demand fresh elections and inquiry over the diplomatic cable.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan has held another successful power show in Lahore followed by other provincial capitals including Karachi and Peshawar.

During his address, the former premier had asked the PTI workers to start preparations for Islamabad’s long march and wait for his call. Imran Khan has asked the concerned authorities to organise fresh elections in the country at the earliest.

Regarding the inquiry on diplomatic cable, Khan had rejected any commission formed by the coalition government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and demanded the Supreme Court (SC) conduct an open hearing of the case.
