DADU: Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh has taken notice of the reported suicide by a female MBBS student named Asmat Rajput in Sindh’s Dadu district.
The SHC CJ issued directives to Hyderabad Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Dadu to submit a report to the court on January 13.
A female medical student had allegedly committed suicide in Dadu’s Sita Road town a few days ago at her residence after being blackmailed by two men for money.
Asmat Rajput’s father Khalid Jameel Rajput stated in the First Information Report (FIR) lodged at the Sita Road police station on January 8 that she was being demanded money by two blackmailers including Shaman Solangi and his son Faiz Solangi.
It further stated that Asmat Rajput had recently deposited Rs90,000 in Shaman Solangi’s bank account after paying different amounts of money to the blackmailers.
It was learnt that the ‘blackmailers’ had prepared a fake nikahnama (marriage certificate) of the MBBS fourth-year student of Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women, Nawabshah.
Another FIR of the incident had been registered on the complaint of Ms Rajput’s brother, Nadir Ali at the Sita Road police station on January 11 in which Shaman Solangi, his wife Naeema Solangi and two unknown suspects were nominated.
Police had found a suicide note of the female student who shot herself dead at her residence, whereas, her diary, laptop and mobile phone were also seized.
The post-mortem report of Asmat Rajput confirmed the cause of the female student’s death as suicide as there were no marks of violence found on her body.
The prime suspects including Shaman Solangi and Faiz Solangi remained at large so far, whereas, Shaman’s wife was arrested by police in the blackmailing case.
