KP Police First Female DPO Sonia Shamroz Takes Charge

Sonia's career kicked-off in 2013 when she joined KP police service as an ASP after passing the CSS examination

For the first time in the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), a female has been appointed as the District Police Officer (DPO).

Sonia Shamroz is a basic pay scale (BPS) scale 18 official who has been appointed as the DPO Chitral.

The first woman DPO of the KP police has recently completed Chevening fellowship from the United Kingdom (UK).

Sonia Shamroz has also served as the first female principal of the Mansehra Police Training Center.

The first female DPO of KP police originally hails from the Abbottabad district.

Sonia’s career kicked-off in 2013 when she joined KP police service as an ASPafter passing the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination.

Then, she also worked as the Abbottabad SP.

The astute official was sent on a fellowship to Britain and she returned to Pakistan in September 2019.

Her course was focused on the assault against women and related disputes.

While talking to the media, newly-appointed DPO Sonia Shamroz said that she was proud of being appointed as the first female DPO of KP police.

She added that a lot of women were serving alongside men for the defense of their homeland.

Sonia Shamroz said that it would be not less than a challenge for her to maintain law and order in the district.
