According to the sources, journalists and all employees of Geo news have started protesting by tying black bands on their hands after the deadline to accept their demands.

Sources say that the employees had submitted their demands in a letter written to Mir Shakilur Rahman, Mir Ibrahimur Rahman, Azhar Abbas and Rana Jawad, but no positive response has been received so far.

It should be remembered that earlier, General Secretary of Jang Publications Employees Union, Shakeel Yameen, had written a letter to the Chief Executive of daily Jang Mir Shakeelur Rehman, demanding immediate payment of salaries.

In a letter written to Mir Shakeelur Rehman 2 months ago, Union of Jang and The News said that the employees are being deprived of their salaries for the last 2 months due to which the anxiety is increasing.

It should be noted that 2 years ago in February 2021, the employees of Geonews had recorded a loud protest for their rights and during this time work was stopped in all the offices.

Geo News Karachi Bureau Chief Faheem Siddiqui said in a Twitter message at that time that all the staff of Geo News have gone on strike due to non-payment of salaries for the last 4 months.
