The federal government has been active in bringing back criminals from Britain to Pakistan. The Home Ministry has decided to consult with the UK for the return of wanted persons in Nawaz Sharif and other high-profile cases.
A special ministerial committee meeting on the extradition treaty between Pakistan and the United Kingdom was chaired by Home Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Human Rights Minister Shirin Mazari, Special Assistant for Accountability Shehzad Akbar, and other officials.
The meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Return of Criminals between Pakistan and the United Kingdom was briefed by Shehzad Akbar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Accountability.
It was decided at the meeting that the obstacles in the agreement between Pakistan and the United Kingdom would be removed and talks would be held and approval would be sought from the Federal Cabinet.
The meeting, chaired by Home Minister Sheikh Rashid, decided that further consultations would be held with the UK for the return of wanted persons in high-profile cases, including Nawaz Sharif.
The meeting decided that the agreement with the United Kingdom would be completed in the best public interest. The agreement will allow both countries to demand the return of their citizens in violation.
It was decided that ratification of the agreement would enable the return of convicted criminals from the courts.
